Study of a hotel project in Fleurimont • Groupe Laroche
This 84-room hotel project proposed by Group Laroche, estimated at more than $15 million, will be located near Feurimont’s Quartier Santé (health district) and will be part of the development of the area around the Université de Sherbrooke hospital expansion. Totalling 5,200 m2, the four-storey hotel with meeting rooms and event spaces ranging from 50 to 100 m2 will be the fifth largest in Sherbrooke in terms of volume. The establishment will provide quick and easy access to Highway 610 and the downtown area’s tourist attractions.
The hotel will meet the growing needs of the city’s eastern sector while adding to the economic value of Fleurimont’s Quartier Santé and business park. It will serve a diverse target clientele, made up not only of people visiting long-stay hospital patients, but also researchers, health professionals, businesspeople and tourists.
The challenge
The aim is to develop a concept compatible with a specialized environment, contributing to the vitality of the institutional, commercial and industrial establishments in the area and meeting the needs of the population and visitors.
The main challenge was obtaining the approval of the population and the municipal and paramunicipal authorities, as well as identifying and mobilizing the best partner and hotel operator to ensure the establishment will be in harmony with its setting.
“We are proud to announce that Destination Sherbrooke, Commerce Sherbrooke and the public are favourable to the project and we hope to be able to carry it out in the near future.”
